Poem: What’s The Lesson?

What’s The Lesson?

You know, we are all students here,

And we’re all teachers.

Are you ready to learn?

Because we are here learning from life and others,

And sometimes, more importantly, we are here to teach ourselves.

Remain teachable.

We learn all our lives, from everything, from everyone.

This permanent “student status” means that we are all ill-equipped life-long educators.

Oftentimes giving lectures and lessons on the very thing we need to learn.

Be open to learning the lesson, finding the lesson,

or suffer your fate of repeating the same class again and again.

The world- your world- is a big classroom with many, many subjects…

Only some you may be able to master.

Next time that you come to this awareness,

Next time, in the midst of your personal pain,

when you realize there is something to learn,

Ask yourself: What’s the lesson?

Be prepared to take notes.
